An Electrical Engineer, from NIT (REC), Durgapur. Specialized in Design and Production of Heavy Electrical Equipments, a one and half year Post-Graduate Diploma (1971) , from NIT (REC), Bhopal. BHEL, Bhopal and UNESCO, under Bhopal University, jointly organized this Post-Graduate course. We spent two semesters at BHEL, Bhopal and we were trained in their design departments and shop floors.

Joined BHEL, Hyderabad in June 1971 as Graduate Engineer Trainee. As Senior Engineer, Marketing I was transferred to Calcutta office. During work with BHEL, I was in-charge of Eastern India (W.B, Orissa, Bihar and 7 North Eastern Region States.) All Electricity Boards in this region, DVC, CESC, Electricity Dept. of Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, NEEPCO, Shillong etc. were among customers. During this period I left for US with immigrant visa taking long leave from BHEL and worked there for few months as NRI (I had green card).

Left BHEL as Senior Manager, Marketing in June 1989 to join Escorts Ltd. as Senior Divisional Manager of their International Business Division (IBD), Calcutta.

During work with IBD, Escorts Ltd. we had business with international companies like Westing House, (USA & Canada), MAN, (Germany), Electrim, (Poland) and many other companies of different countries. In the year 1993 business started with China & visited China first time. Visited China many times both for official work and personal visit to meet friends and to attend International Trade Fair on getting invitation from Government of Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province, China. At this stage I learned Chinese language. IBD did a business of around Rs.500 crores of Long Wall Mining Equipments and other Engineering products during this period.

Retired from Escorts Ltd. in June 2003 as General Manager-cum-Corporate Branch Manager (Chief of Eastern Region).

PERSONAL: D.O.B: March 1946. My wife is a doctor (Pediatrician) and our only son is also a doctor specialized in Hospital Administration.
